FALLEN ANGELS
In this sequel to Creatures of Habit, mystic Monsignor Thomas Steele and the Vatican’s Paranormal Section are again called into action. Steele, his beloved cat Gato and his BMW R1200GS motorbike are flown to Petersburg, Alaska where U.S. Navy Commander Eddie Murphy, briefs Steele on the mysterious disappearance of an American Ohio class Trident submarine.
The two meet a sultry brunette, Alexandra Alexandrova, who the Monsignor quickly deduces is a Russian agent; it seems Russia has also lost an atomic submarine. Alexandra also harbors a secret even she doesn’t know about. To find the lost submarines Steele maneuvers Alexandrova and Murphy into a reluctant alliance, unknown to their governments.
To solve the mystery, Izzy tells Steele they’ll need a private submarine. The only one in the area is broken and belongs to 12-Gage a retired cage fighter. The priest must win a match with12-gage to win his help.
Meanwhile Esméralda charges Steele to make a hazardous an apparently unrelated journey to the LeConte glacier and the Thunder Bay ice fjord. Here, he Gato learn firsthand what a “shooter” is and how dangerous they can be. From a seaplane wreckage Steele rescues a fortune in diamonds before it sinks into to the depths of LeContre Fjord. Steele will use them to fund the secret mission within a mission and refit the Barbarba-Ann.
Steele, and his friends journey to Coney Island where Izzy has located a submerged cavern, a stranded alien transdimensional space ship and the missing submarines. From the human crews they learn about their captors and the bizarre working truce that is keeping them alive. Only one thing remains for a fix. Now Steele understands the reason for his trip to LeContre Fjord and begins an eerie trade to broker a rescue of the captive crews and submarines. Finished, Steele begins a motorbiking trip on the byways of British Columbia for Seattle, but this journey is interrupted … apparently his and Gato’s work isn’t finished …
