THE WISHING SCROLL
A stray cat, a conniving twin brother, a legendary treasure thief and chief keeper of spells and scrolls in the library of the Gods combine to fling Bryan Ralston, struggling college student from his mundane world of work and study into the realm of sorcery, gods and treasure. His adventure begins one stormy night when a mysterious cat arrives. Bryan names her Chirp. His con-artist twin soon appears with a magic Wishing Scroll. By wishing for money and pulling it from the scroll, Bryce proves it works to his skeptical brother. When Bryan expresses moral qualms about the money’s source, they settle the issue by asking for unclaimed cash. This time they go for BIG money. Bryan reaches in pulls out a moldy canvass knapsack containing fortune in $20.00 bills.
When Bryan uses some to pay tuition expenses, agents Quantrell and Vincenti soon appear asking pointed questions. It seems the serial numbers match the $200,000 dollars extorted by one D.B. Cooper in a November 24th, 1971 skyjacking. During the interview, Agent Vincenti mentions his father was a passenger on that plane.
Bryan spends a night in jail and learns next morning Agent Vincenti has vanished. Previously, all hostages survived the Cooper Hijack but now Bryan is told the plane crashed killing all aboard; people and things have begun to change. Since Agent Vincenti’s father died, Vincenti was never born and his children have ceased to exist.
Bryan returns to his apartment to find a haughty, smoldering, beauty sitting in his living room. Chirp the cat has changed into Seshat, chief keeper of spells and scrolls in the library of the gods. She’s come to stop a cosmic battle between Seth and Horus for the kingship of the gods. If Seth prevails, he’ll replace the present cosmos with one tailored to his whims. Bryan must help Seshat recover the scroll and mend time itself.
